Many patients seek treatment for stubborn lines around the mouth and nose (marionette lines, nasolabial folds, and mental creases), but many aren’t aware of the other types of fillers that are available. Dr. Okada will consult with you to understand which issues are concerning you and offer the best solutions to meet your unique needs. 

 

 Preparing for Treatment

JUVEDERM CONCERNS & EXPECTATIONS

  • Initial Assessment

    Dr. Okada meets all potential patients for an initial consultation, during which she’ll conduct a full facial analysis and an interview to understand your needs and desires. You will want to avoid alcohol and smoking in the weeks leading up to treatment, which will help prevent bruising.

  • During Treatment

    Juvederm® can be performed on your lunch hour! We’ll clean the area to be injected, mark the areas for treatment, and then you’ll relax while Dr. Okada uses a tiny needle to inject treatment. There is very little pain involved, and treatment usually takes as little as 15-60 minutes.

  • Recovery Timeline

    Though you can return to most activities right away, Dr. Okada suggests patients don’t rub the injection area or embark in strenuous activity for twenty-four hours after the procedure. Results will develop as soon as four days after treatment, with most changes obvious at seven days, and results last between six months and two years.

Does Juvederm® hurt? 

Any injection can be painful, but the needles we use for these injections are tiny. We also numb the area first with a topical anesthetic if you’d like us to. You should not feel any pain after the procedure, though there may be a bit of redness or swelling, and in rare cases, bruising. 

What are the possible side effects of Juvederm® fillers?

Juvederm® injections are very safe when performed by an experienced, American Board of Plastic Surgery-certified surgeon like Dr. Okada. Possible side effects and complications can include: 

  • Pain, swelling or bruising at the injection site, swelling usually lasts less than two weeks

  • Lumps or bumps

  • Itching

Will everyone know I had injections? 

As with all procedures performed by Dr. Okada, the goal of your treatment is to deliver natural results that increase your confidence and boost your inner beauty. Your friends might notice you look youthful and rested, but they probably won’t know why!
