Other patients come to us seeking masseter Botox®, a jawline slimming treatment that also helps with pain due to jaw-clenching and tooth-grinding. Botox can also help alleviate pain from TMJ.

 

 Preparing for Treatment

BOTOX® CONCERNS & EXPECTATIONS

  • Initial Assessment

    Dr. Okada meets all potential patients for an initial consultation, during which she’ll conduct a full facial analysis and an interview to understand your needs and desires. Dr. Okada believes that procedures like Botox are not intended to make someone beautiful, rather to enhance the beauty they already possess, like all cosmetic treatments. Dr. Okada will discuss realistic expectations and prepare patients to get the most out of their treatment.

  • During Treatment

    Botox® can be performed on your lunch hour! We’ll clean the area to be injected, and then you’ll relax while Dr. Okada uses a tiny needle to inject treatment. There is very little pain involved, and treatment usually takes as little as 30 minutes.

  • Recovery Timeline

    Though you can return to most activities right away, Dr. Okada suggests patients don’t rub the injection area or embark in strenuous activity for twenty-four hours after the procedure. Results will take as long as four to seven days to develop and last between three and four months.

Does Botox® hurt? 

Any injection can be painful, but the needles we use for Botox® injections are very thin. We also numb the area first with a topical anesthetic if you’d like us to. You should not feel any pain after the procedure. 

What are the possible short and long term side effects of Botox®?

Botox® injections are very safe when performed by an experienced, American Board of Plastic Surgery-certified surgeon like Dr. Okada. Possible (but rare) side effects and complications can include: 

  • Pain, swelling or bruising at the injection site

  • Headache or flu-like symptoms

  • Droopy eyelid or cockeyed eyebrows

  • Crooked smile or drooling (when injections occur around the mouth)

  • Eye dryness or excessive tearing

Will everyone know I had a Botox® consultation? 

As with all procedures performed by Dr. Okada, the goal of your Botox treatment is to deliver natural results that increase your confidence and boost your inner beauty. Your friends might notice you look youthful and rested, but they won’t know why!
