Options for De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis Surgery

 

Dr. Okada will consult with you to determine the best procedure for your surgery. The goal of the procedure is to open the compartment around the tendons so they can move freely, alleviating pain. 

 

 Preparing for Treatment

DE QUERVAIN’S TENOSYNOVITIS CONCERNS & EXPECTATIONS

  • Initial Assessment

    Dr. Okada will consult with you in our offices to evaluate your condition and determine whether surgery is the best option. She will then talk to you about the procedure and prepare you for next steps.

  • During Treatment

    This surgery is usually an outpatient procedure that lasts about a half hour. During this time, the doctor will perform the procedure while you are sedated. This procedure an open surgery, and the incision is less than a half inch long, resulting in a relatively quick recovery time.

  • Recovery Timeline

    Your incisions will be closed with stitches, and the surgical site will be bandaged. You’ll need to take care to follow directions to keep the stitches clean and dry. Full recovery and relief from pain can take 6 to 12 weeks.
